These days, everyone is busy and we've relied on technology to help us stay organized. Whether we're in the car, grocery shopping or talking to our relatives, most females are never without their phone. But, did you know that every time that you pick up your "cellie" to call your husband or prenatal health doctor, you could be putting your baby at risk?
That's right. A recent study conducted by two Yale School of Medicine professors found that cell phone radiation during those nine months may harm that bun in the oven's brain activity.
''We had pregnant mice in cages and we just simply put a cellphone on top of the cage. In half the mice, the cell phone was active and in half of the cages, the cell phone was turned off so it wasn't transmitting a signal at all," said study co-author Dr. Hugh Taylor, in a statement. "The mice exposed to cell phones were more active. Their memory was slightly decreased. These mice were basically bouncing off the walls and didn't have a care in the world."
Although he understands that asking mommies-to-be to put down their mobile devices for the length of their pregnancies may not be that practical, he does recommend that they exercise caution when using a cell phone and hold the gadget away from their bodies.
That device manual that most people don't bother to look at also has some useful information detailing the potential dangers. So, next time you open up a new Android or iPhone, you may want to consider reading through its instruction booklet as it could contain some useful information that may help you keep your developing baby safe and sound.
